God dag Sandra! We did not get to teach my sister how to make lefse because of the weather, but we made lefse here anyway and it was smakte godt!! Afterwards we also had two shots of akavit, one for each leg, we wouldn't want to be a cripple you know. We had a fun time with it as we always do. I am glad we didn't have the ice with the storm. We are supposed to get more snow on Friday. I am starting to run out of places to put it. At least I can enjoy it with snow shoeing and skiing, so I guess it isn't too bad. I will snowshoe and then sauna tomorrow. I should look and see if I have a pic of my sauna, which I built, and share it with everyone. It has a sod roof and is built off the ground on stones. It is back in my woods which I call 'Trollskogen". I have a sign in my front yard and I call our place "Trollbakken". have a great day!

I love your quote: "Afterwards we also had two shots of akavit, one for each leg".
I had a relative named Minnie, a little old lady with a bun who lived into her 90's, whose mother was born in Norway and her father was born in Sweden, and since you usually have the snapps and "Skål" with the fish course at the beginning of the meal, her toast was, "Fish have to swim in something!", and down it goes.

Your relative's quote for the skål is a good one. When we were in Norway and had akavit at our hosts, we were told that it was a common tradition to have two shots of akavit, one for each leg or you would become a cripple. This was at two different families in different parts of Norway. I'll have to remember your quote also it is a good one. It's another bright sunny day here in the northland and only -3. Supposed to be in the teens for the weekend and then some of that cold stuff. Hopefully we will get our "January Thaw" sometime. It probably is getting cold because of the full moon. Seems like that happens up here in the winter. I probably will go snowshoeing by the light of the moon tonight. It is a surreal experience. Have a good day.
